What Matters Most
Director: Joseph Bennett
A film about a robbery goes wrong. In this film we see a desperate man try to do what he can for the woman he loves, in this case that’s stealing a car. Through this film he slowly loses his innocence, as the robbery goes south. Our goal was to shoot this with the camera mimicking how he felt about the world around him, slowly getting shakier as his world changes into something he was unprepared for. The final shot of the film (the first still that can be seen below) was extremely powerful, it’s a moment where the main character feels detached and isolated from the world as he realizes what he’s been a part of. It’s the idea of when you experience something horrific, you don’t just go on with your life, but you freeze, lost in thought, trying to process what you just saw as anything but what it was.
